On Wednesday, November 09, 2005 at 18:36 Hrs Chester County Dispatch alerted Ridge Fire Co (Station 62) and Elverson Ambulance (Station 32) covering for Goodwill Ambulance(MontCo 329) for an Auto Accident on Rt 23 (Ridge Rd) at Coventryville Rd in South Coventry Twp. Rescue 62 and Engine 62-1 were on the road with in a minute of the dispatch. While en-route dispatch advised of multiple vehicles and a school bus being involved. At that time A32-1 inquired about a medic unit being put on the assignment. Chief 62 then requested West End Ambulance Sub-Station(MICU 1-67-4) to the scene for the medic. Rescue 62 and Engine 62-1 arrived on scene and found 3 vehicles and an unoccupied school bus involved in the accident on Rt 23 just west of Coventryville Rd. Rescue 62 then assumed Rt 23 Command. Due to the condition of one patient Aero Medical was placed on stand-by. Witnesses then advised that the patient might have been ejected at that point SkyCare 1 was told to fly, and Engine 62-1 and Assistant 62 would have LZ operations at the French Creek Elementary School on Coventryville Rd. MontCo medic 329-9 then became available and also responded to the scene. A32-1 transported the patient to the LZ were SkyCare 1 flew the patient to Temple. MontCo 329-9 transported one patient to Reading Hospital and MICU 1-67-4 received sign-offs and went available. Do to the multiple vehicles, a large debris field, a school bus partially in the woods about 150 yd west of the cars on Rt 23, and a very slick road surface on Rt 23. Elverson Fire Police (Station 32) were called to assist 62 Fire Police to shut down Rt 23 from Old Ridge Rd to Coventryville Rd. PennDOT was also called to spread sand on the road surface because of the slickness. 62 Fire units were able to go available by 19:58 Hrs. Fire Police were able to open up the Road and go available by 21:22 Hrs.
