Ridge Fire Company - West Vincent Community Day - 5/9/2009

  Except for Comm 1 getting stuck when it arrived, and that was sorted out quickly, the day went well. The rain didn't arrive and there was a slight breeze making the weather for the day perfect! Aside from the Fire Trucks from Ridge Fire Company, Ludwig's Corner Fire Company, Kimberton Fire Company, and West End Ambulance being available for people to look at Chester County Departments of Emergency Service's Comm 1 and IST {Incident Support Team} Trailer were also there. Comm 1 is a mobile communications center capable of being a full 911 center. It is used during large incidents when there is a need for a large amount of communication capability. In case of major incident the IST Trailer can also be used, in conjunction with Comm 1, to provide a mobile command center.

  There was something for just about everyone, antique cars and tractors, pedal tractors, scaled down, fully functional bulldozers, etc., crafts, food, and entertainment as well as “moon bounces”, and a hot air balloon.

  The fire companies, local police, etc. had tables with safety information handouts as well as fun items such as fire helmets and stuffed animals.

  There were “Search and Rescue” dogs wondering around the grounds.

  A MedEvac helicopter, from Sky Flight Care out of Brandywine Hospital, landed for people to get a close up view of. Everyone enjoyed watching it land and take off.

  There was a good turn out. There were 220+ people that stopped by the Ridge Fire Company trucks and table.
