Multiple Fire/Rescue/EMS Companies doing Ropes Training 5/3/2005

   On Tuesday Evening, May 3, 2005 the Ridge Fire Co.(62) participated and hosted a rescue ropes and rigging class with Linfield Fire Co.(MontCo51) and West End Ambulance Sub-Station (MICU 1-67). Crews Started the Evening evaluating the different equipment used and then went into refreshing themselves with different knots and techniques. Crews then reviewed and practiced in securing a patient to the Rescue Stokes Basket for raising, lowering, and hauling. Crews were then given a situation to set-up a rescue that involved moving the loaded stoke basket horizontally using mechanical advantage with double and single pulleys. Crews secured the patient to the stoke basket with webbing and set-up a 5:1 pulley system from the basket to the front of Engine 62-1 and a 4:1 Pulley system from the basket to the rear of Rescue 62. The situation was successful and all parties received a nice refresher in high angle rescue techniques.
