On Wednesday, March 15th just after 4pm Station 69 (Twin Valley FD) and ATV 62 were dispatched to the 2300 block of Ridge Road in Warwick township for a working brush fire. During the response additional resources were requested bringing, Engine 62-5, Brush 62, and Traffic 62 to the scene along with Brush Assignment responses from Station 61 (Kimberton), Berks County Station 7 (Birdsboro), Berks County Station 24 (Geigertown), and PA State Forestry Units (District 17). ATVs and manpower on foot were utilized to contain the fire and bringing it under control. This was first response for ATV 62 after going into service earlier this year. Crews operated on scene for over 3.5hrs with the last units clearing at 8:23pm.

Shortly before 5pm while crews were operating at the Warwick Twp Fire, Chester County Communications alerted Station 62 for a second call in the district for a Trees and Wire fire to the rear of the 1100 block of Schoolhouse Rd in East Coventry Twp. Engine 62-2 and Deputy 62 made the response and found a wire down from high tension power lines running through a wooded area between Schoolhouse Rd and Pigeon Creek Rd with a working woods fire. An additional brush truck from MontCo Station 51 (Limerick) was requested to assist Engine 62-2. Brush 62 along with Chief 61 were released from the Warwick Twp Fire to assist with the brush fire in East Coventry. Brush 62 and Field 51 arrived on scene and made their way back to the fire area setting up operations on either side of the down wire to assist Engine 62-2’s crew until PECO arrived to confirm the down wire was not live. Crews utilized Indian Tanks, rakes and booster lines to bring the fire under control just before 5:30pm. Engine 62-1 supplied additional water to Engine 62-2 on scene with Squad 62 providing additional manpower.

Special Thanks to Limerick Fire Dept (Station 51) and Chief 61 for providing assistance on scene along with PECO for their quick response with multiple crews to make sure all down lines were not energized so the fire could be completely extinguished.
Crews cleared the East Coventry Incident around 6pm.

Thank you to Sanatoga Fire Co for relocating Engine 58 to Station 62 for coverage while multiple incidents were handled in the region.
Strong winds, sunny conditions and low humidity levels allowed for the quick spread of any outdoor fires.
