Heavy thunderstorms moved through the Northern Chester County area just after 7pm Tuesday night while members were at the station for weekly drill. At approximately 8pm, Assistant 62, Engine 62-2, and Traffic 62 made the response to the 500 block of Crest Lane for a transformer on fire. Crews arrived with a transformer on fire. About an hour later Chief 62, Engine 62-1, Traffic 62, and 62 Fire Police responded to the 4000 block of Pottstown Pike and located branches on the power lines causing an arc. Just after midnight on Wednesday Chief 62 and Engine 62-1 responded to the area for a transformer arcing. Crews cleared this call just before 1am. At approximately 1:30pm crews were notified of tree branches falling onto power lines on the 1100 block of Schuylkill Road. The final call came in at approximately 10:30pm in the area of Saw Mill Road and Cooks Glen Road for a tree down across the wires causing them to spark. Chief 62 and Engine 62-2 made the response. PECO was notified of all of these incidents along with many other incidents and is actively restoring power to the area.
