Crews were kept busy running several calls during the major winter storm and cold that gripped most of the country. The first call came in at approximately 12:45pm when Station 62 and MICU 83-2 (Friendship EMS) were dispatched to the 200 block of Penn Drive in East Vincent for an odor of gas inside. Engine 62-2 responded. Chief 62 arrived quickly and isolated the odor. Chief 62 recalled the assignment. Just before 7pm, Station 62 was called to the unit block of Painters Way for a fire alarm. Chief and Assistant 62 along with Engine 62-2 responded and determined that the alarm was false and crews returned to the station. At 7:45pm Engine 62-2, Engine 62-1, 62 Chief Officers and 62 Fire Police responded to the 200 block of Schoolhouse Lane for a vehicle fire. Crews arrived to find an SUV well involved in fire. Engine 62-2 stretched a line and began fire extinguishment. Engine 62-1 arrived and supplied Engine 62-2 while crews assisted with extinguishing the fire. 62 Fire Police directed traffic around the scene. As crews were clearing the vehicle fire, MICU 84-2 requested fire department assistance on a medical emergency on the 600 block of Kulp Road. Utility 62-1, Engine 62-2, 62 Chief Officers, and Fire Police responded. Crews cleared a path in the driveway and assisted EMS crews down a long driveway to the waiting ambulance. Crews returned to the station just before 10pm.
