Back to Back Chimney Fires

Just before 3:30pm , Station 62 , Station 69 (Twin Valley), Tower 64 (Norco), and Ambulance 189-1 (Elverson-Honey Brook EMS) were dispatched to the area of the 1600 block of Ridge Road for a house fire reported to be smoke from the roof. 62 Chief officers arrived to find an active chimney fire at the residence. Engine 62-1 and Engine 62-2 responded and upon arrival began extinguishing the chimney fire. Tower 64 arrived and their crew went to the roof to assist with extinguishing the fire using chimney chains and cables. Chief 62 held the response to units on location. 62 Fire Police directed traffic around the scene. Crews were in service for an hour before returning to the station.

Just before 9:30pm as crews were wrapping up from our weekly drill which consisted of vehicle stabilization and driver training , Station 62, Tower 64, and MICU 84-2 (Goodwill EMS) were dispatched to the 600 block of Pigeon Creek Road for a chimney fire. Chief 62 arrived to find a chimney fire with smoke throughout the upper floors of the residence. Assistant 62 established command, and directed Engine 62-1 and Engine 62-2 to take the driveway with all other apparatus staging on Pigeon Creek Road. Crews from Engine 62-1 and Tower 64 (Norco) utilized ground ladders to get to the roof and began fire suppression while crews from Engine 62-2 and Rescue 62 assisted with deploying ground ladders and extinguishing the fire in the fire place. Crews remained on scene for approximately an hour on this incident as well.
