Just after 1am Saturday, Ridge Fire Company was dispatched to the Unit block of Bertolet School Road for an electrical fire inside the residence. Shortly after dispatch, another call was received stating that sparks were also coming from the exterior of the house. Chief 62 along with Engine 62-2 arrived with smoke in the area and large tree down preventing crews from accessing the residence. PECO was requested to expedite and upon their arrival, the power was secured, crews cleared the tree out of the way and were able to begin controlling the fire which quickly progressed. Due to heavy fire conditions, crews mounted a defensive attack. Crews were in service for almost 7 hours before returning to the station.
