Early Morning Fire Assist to Kimberton

On Saturday Morning at 0536Hrs Chester County Communication alerted Ridge Fire Co (Station 62) for an Engine to assist Kimberton Fire Co (Station 61) along with mutual aid from Phoenixville FD (Station 65), Valley Forge FC (Station 68), West End EMS (AMB 67-4) and Lionville FC (Station 47) as part of the first alarm assignment on a reported Dwelling Fire in the area of Kimberton Rd and Prizer RD in East Pikeland Twp. Responding personnel could see a header of smoke from several miles out. Chief 61 arrived on location and confirmed that he had a Barn well off on Prizer Rd between Kimberton Rd and Hares Hill Rd. PECO was requested to the scene for a down power line along with Chester County Fire Marshals. Rescue 61 and Ladder 65 arrived on scene to begin the initial attack and the process of evacuating a cow and two pigs from the lower section of the barn unharmed. Command requested tanker operations setup on Prizer Road with a fill site to be established at the old East Pikeland Elementary School. 62 crews assisted with fire attack on the lower back side of the barn while Engine 62-5 shuttled water to the scene. Traffic 62 was requested by command to the intersection of Kimberton Rd and Hares Hill Rd to assist with traffic control for the Tankers making the loop shuttling water. All 62 units were clear of the scene and returning to the 62 local by 0827hrs.

Special Thanks to Twin Valley FD for standing by with Engine 69-5 at our Fire House while Engine 62-5 was operating at the barn fire.

The Chester County Fire Marshal’s Office is handling the fire investigation.
