| At approximately 4:30pm on Friday, July 25th, 2025 Station 62 (Ridge), Station 61 (Kimberton), Station 73 (Ludwigs Corner), and MICU 67 (West End EMS) were dispatched to the 1700 block of Sheeder Mill Rd, West Vincent Twp for a Structure Fire reported to be a large gazebo. Chester County advised Chief 62 that the Gazebo was at the rear of the residence down a long, shared driveway. Chief 61 arrived on scene and confirmed a large gazebo to the rear of the property with a working fire in the roof area. Engine 62-2 and Tanker 61 arrived shortly after the report. Engine 62-2’s crews stretched a handline to the rear and began knocking down the fire. Engine 62-1 arrived, and its crew began to open up the ceiling with hooks and checking for further extension. Tanker 61 supplied the 62 Engines with water. Manpower from 61, 73 and 62 worked on scene with overhaul while the larger apparatus staged out on Sheeder Mill Road. The fire was placed under control about 15 minutes after dispatch. Chester County Fire Marshals were requested to the scene for the investigation with Engine 62-2 remaining on scene until 6:51pm.
As units were responding to the initial call on Sheeder Mill Rd, a thunderstorm was moving in on the area. This caused some other incidents in the area to be handled by the responding companies.
- Station 73 handled low hanging wires causing Rt 100 to be closed for an extended period in West Vincent Twp. Engine 73-5 was still able to assist on Sheeder Mill Rd while Engine 73-1 handled the wires call on Rt 100.
- As the Kimberton units were released from the Sheeder Mill Rd incident, they were dispatched to their own potential house fire in Charlestown Twp.
- Engine 62-5 while returning from West Vincent assisted EMS at the OJR Middle School with building access to investigate a medical alarm.
We thank all our mutual aid partners for their assistance on scene as this section of West Vincent is limited in access due to bridge restrictions across the French Creek and larger apparatus needing to take alternate routes to the scene. |
