| Today the Ridge Members got to welcome home our new Pumper Tanker, Engine 62-5, ready for service!
While this isn’t the first time the New Engine 62-5 has been around the station. You may have seen on Thanksgiving when teased a picture of the new truck on Facebook as part of our Thanksgiving Wishes. We took delivery of the new truck in late October from Pierce Manufacturing as a blank canvas. Over the past couple of months, we got the truck lettered, radios installed, did some driver training, loaded hose, reviewed equipment placement and returned the truck to our local dealer, Glick Fire Equipment, just before Thanksgiving to get the tools mounted and truck ready to go into service. As we all anxiously waited for Engine 62-5’s return, we received that call today and the Chief and President traveled out to Bird in Hand to bring Engine 62-5 home.
This evening as part of our weekly training crews spent time familiarizing themselves with the equipment placement, new truck layout and operations of the truck.
Engine 62-5 is a 2025 Pierce Arrow XT Pumper Tanker with a 2000 GPM Waterous pump and 3500 gallon water tank with an actual capacity of 3613 gallons. The cab has seating for 6 with 5 SCBA Seats. The truck features a Firecom Headset system for all crew members, three 5in LDH Discharges, Two LDH Direct Tank Fills, Side and Rear water tank dumps for tanker shuttle operations, and three preconnected attack lines. For master stream operations the truck is equipped with an Akron pre-connected deck gun above the pump house and a 2.5in blitz line with an Akron Mercury Gun. A full complement of Engine Company equipment, ladders, saws and hooks are on board ranging from a 30in NY Hook to a 14ft Pike Pole.
Look for Engine 62-5 to be responding to call in the near future. We want to thank our Truck Committee Members for their diligent work over the past 4 years as the truck went from planning to the final spec, trips to Pierce for pre-build and final inspection, along with numerous phone calls and emails coordinating with all the vendors to get their parts of the puzzle completed. Our biggest Thank You goes out to our community for their continued support that makes these large investments possible, so we can continue to provide the best services available to those in need.
As Engine 62-5 goes into service it helps us kick off 2026 as we celebrate our 90th year of service to northern Chester County. |
