Just before 10am, Station 62 along with Medic 329-6 (Goodwill EMS) were dispatched to the 1200 block of Ridge Road for an accident. Shortly after dispatch the assignment was upgraded to an accident with entrapment involving a box truck and a SUV. Lieutenant 62 arrived and confirmed heavy entrapment. Rescue 69 (Twin Valley) along with additional fire police were requested to the scene to assist. Rescue 62 arrived and went into service utilizing multiple hydraulic and rescue tools backed up by crews from Engine 62-1 and Utility 62-1. Goodwill EMS arrived and began treating the patient with Rescue 69 arriving shortly after and assisted the 62’s crew with extrication. All crews assisted with hazard control and scene cleanup. Medic 329-6 transported the occupant of the vehicle to an area trauma center for further treatment. MICU 84 from Goodwill EMS assisted onscene and evaluated the other driver for injuries.
Fire Police from 62 and 73 (Ludwigs Corner FC) worked to close off the rescue scene to traffic with assistance by surrounding local PD while the PA State Police completed their investigation.
